Hi,

DICE have released Server Update R16 to fix the most common cause of server side related crashes; approximately 75% of crashes should be fixed with this maintenance release. Additional crashes have been identified and bug fixing is ongoing with those.

R16 can be installed by logging into the Game Panel and going to Game Servers > BF3 > Game Updates and the R16 patch is available there.

This is an optional patch for this evening but all game servers will be required to be running the latest release by mid day tomorrow, 19th December, if no major issues are found. As such, we will force all instances that have not been updated to R16 around that time.

It's good to see progress being made.

I wonder what effect this has on memory as there still appears to be a nasty leak...

So far, no crashes for us.

If it has resolved 75% of all crashes, the latest logs as the servers continue to crash should be invaluable.

There's still a nasty memory leak in R16 though... :(

If the bugs they claim to have fixed won't crash the server, this will.

Nothing I can put my finger on. To determine if it's a map, I'd need to test each one... I don't really want to do this. Using my own servers as folks are trying to play.

You can find the memory usage for a particular instance under the 'Game Server Activity' icon in the game panel. Normal usage is between 100 - 300MB.

(Knock on wood)

Best server patch untill now. Servers been running smoothly for one week and 2-3 days now! They are full most hours of every day, so that's great.

Ours will keel over soon thanks to that memory leak! I keep reporting it to DICE with graphs, the usual waffle comes back.

You seem to be affected by this more than most. Some curse you dragged over from BC2? :P

I remember you mentioned that you use multiple rcon connections. Perhaps this is the trigger that gets the ball rolling; the majority of admins will be using single connections to their game servers. Maybe give the second rcon connection a break and see how the memory usage is?
