my only concern is that the bandwidth allowances listed for GD colocation are horrendously small. If our server was migrated to GD's pricing model it would be unsustainable, website + minecraft + mumble + offsite backups soon add up!

All existing co-lo, dedi. game servers and VoIP services will be honoured. There is not going to be a change to the service agreement when your account migrates over.

Reading both the admin response posts, it seems very much like a front end / back end division of labour.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but from what I gather the merger will in-effect make GamingDeluxe KillerCreation's commercial front, and as a result will absorb the front-end duties (namely sales marketing operations) while relying upon the KC network and in-turn funding the KC's network expansion - which presumably attracts other companies which want to use the network - which is illustrated by the relationship between KC and GD before the merge.

I'm just trying to flesh out the relationship here... have I got that all right?

Once thing that would be good to know, will Justin remain as Company Director by virtue of his control of the network to which GD is reliant, or will Woody remain as Company Director as he controls the primary source of income for the company (making the assumption that the revenue gained through the renting out of the network out is a secondary source), or will this relationship mean that there will be a co-directorship?

I suppose what I'm really asking is, but for the unstated issues with using KillerCreation as a brand name being an obstacle, would the brand name be KillerCreation?

Not exactly.

KillerCreation Networks Ltd deals with two diverse markets, the first being gaming and the other IP transit and management geared towards larger business. At the time of writing, revenue is split about 30/70 in favour of gaming related services.

The merger with GD only includes KillerCreation's gaming side. KillerCreation Networks Ltd will spin off and concentre on growing it's IP transit and management where it'll most likely rename to something like Bandwidth Technologies (more biz orientated name).

With the gaming merger, I'll take up a share stake in GamingDeluxe and work approx 50/50 between GamingDeluxe Ltd and KillerCreation Networks Ltd.

GamingDeluxe Ltd will own the rights to KillerCreation as a gaming brand, however, as KillerCreation Networks Ltd still exists, there is the potential for confusion. Although KillerCreation Networks Ltd will be renamed, this cannot be done immediately due to some contractual obligations in place; if the merger happened 6 months down the line, GamingDeluxe Ltd could of used KillerCreation as their brand going forward. Not to delay the merger, we chose to use Gamindeluxe as the brand name instead.

So to sum up, the IP side of KC Ltd is growing and needed to split off from the gaming side in order to maintain the high level of service KC customers are used to. The merger with GD gives us that opportunity by bring in additional staff that have years of experience within the gaming market that will work alongside current KC chaps. The downside is the loss of the KillerCreation gaming name, but something had to give somewhere.

Hi All

I thought id jump in at this point, some may know me, most wont but, i can clarify that GamingDeluxe was started by me 8 years ago as a gamer wanting supiour support and that is our unique Selling Point like KC. Justin and I have been fighting the same cause for many years i.e. be the best and offer the best so why not join forces and cement the deal! You will see from the GD forums we have many happy customers so there is no worries on this. Over at GD we offer this from 10am till 10 pm and Steve, Jon and myself man this but now Justin and Godsbane will be there too so its getting better! We've been using KC's network for 2.5 years and this is getting bigger too due to the merger, which Justin is in charge of so you are in safe hands.

Anyone wanting to introduce themselves or ask questions my email addy is andy@gamingdeluxe.co.uk, im a grown man of 41 so im aprroachable and happy to help and offer advice being a gamer my BL id is "w00der" add me if you like, ill happily chew the fat or assist with problems.

I had originally written quite a long boring post about a bunch of business-related crap. Copy+pasting 3 paragraphs of lipsum would've been a more interesting read for everyone, so in the end I settled on this:

Onwards and upwards!

I know you guys will do just fine!

See you on the other side and all the best,

Tom / UberMensch

Only just spotted all of this (where have I been).

Business change has to happen. In IT stuff especially if you stand still you get trampled upon so it's good to know the plans are to get bigger rather than smaller.

Like many customers I do have my concerns that whilst this is good for the people running the companies, whether it is in fact good for the customer. I too have been impressed by the prompt availability of support, even at times when I expected nobody to be there, from Justin and his team. Indeed I often wondered if Justin's keyboard was part of his anatomy judging from the timing of some responses. Maybe this will let him get a bit of a life away from the data centre? Time will tell, but I can't see that having spent so much effort building things up over the years that they'd want to throw it away so easily.

The biggest immediate loss will be the KillerCreation gaming brand. To be honest I've never heard of the other company until now.

Wait, are all the gaming clients just moving to GD or are the dedicated servers moving too?

Anything gaming related (Killercreation.co.uk offered services) and it's not moving to GD, it's a merger of GD and KC under GD's name.

What's happening management-wise, Justin? I danced around the question in my above post, but where does the buck stop?

I guess it's seems like a none-of-my-business question, but I figure that if we're to be the merging-customers, then the question as to who is ultimately in-charge is a question which is very much material to the customer/service provider relationship.

Dont be worried about support as i mentioned before, thats what GD has always been about, ive been at the keyboard 12 hours today and ill be here a few more. Ill go catch some zzzz's and if i wake up and cant sleep ill be back here to sweep up more tickets. Welcome to all and fear not we will be working on a site revamp to reflect both companieswhich have created it.

As KC customers all we are ultimately concerned about it that the excellent service we have received at good pricing will continue. Who is actually at the other end of the support ticket is probably less critical provided they have that big stick that can threaten our game servers into submission in an instant :). I suspect the same feeling will exist for GD customers who wonder how the status quo will pan out.

Bottom line, nobody likes change.

It's good to see that both GSPs are already established EA RSPs. If there is a risk that the EA relationship would be harmed by this merger that would be very disconcerting.

Oh and if eventually the two websites are to be merged, that probably means only one forum in due course. It would be nice if posts, which equate to a legacy of both organisations, and sometimes contain useful gems of information on solving a weird issue, were not lost but can somehow be merged into the new forums.

What happens about EA licenses for hosting games? I know that KC has the license for BC2 but GD did not... how will that work in future?

Will GD fight to be a RSVP for all future big releases light KC have?

KC Ltd novated licenses for BF2, BF2142, Crysis, Crysis 2, BC2 and MOH to GamingDeluxe in addition to their existing BF3 license. Generally once you're in the EA ranked program, it extends to future titles.

If you look at the current top 50 UK BF3 game servers, 32 of them are held by KC/GD. It's safe to say there will be no problem with future titles. Pretty much every BF game to date, KC in particular has held most of the top UK game servers.
