**prostrates before RaWClan (a PBBans admin).

I remember reading a thread on the EA forums posted by a player who had been informed by the game that his "corrupted files" would prevent him from playing online. He then went into a big rant about how the "lazy" gamers who spend hours at their pc are not worthy and that using hacks was the only way to compete. Quite sad really and I can't believe that a person would have that mentality.

RaWClan,

We currently have a debate about hackers and admining running in our private section of the forum. I'm not sure if Justin would like this so be brought to here but one of our guys has visited a known and proud hacker community when they talk about having minimap and esp type hacks that seem to be undetected. If you wouldn't mind would you register on our website so we can pick your brains and have a hug :)

HEre is a snippet:

Hacker's post on their forum

Quote

I've been using the Bad Company 2 hack for nearly a week now, no detections, no kicks. It doesnt Aimbot.... but It still has Minimap/3d HUD detectors... you can see where all the enemies are... I cant figure out how to do the "Spawn on Enemy", or "Spawn with Enemy Skin".... But other than that, the Locator hack keeps me near the top score per map. I still have to use skill to kill them, but knowing where they are and sneaking up on them is PWN

OUr admin's response on our forum

Is it paranoia to think we playing agains hackers, or is it nieve to think that they dont play on our server?

Regarding the paranoia or naivety there will always be a battle within ourselves. ...................... We should trust our instincts, 100%, but what is your judgement and another's will be different. So what is right and what is wrong? The recommended method that has become the best way for a community and not a lot of mini despots is to seek confirmation. If it is decided that "they" are spoiling the enjoyment and those admins who are indifferent are happy to go with the majority then make the move....................... It is always better to let them know (and the server) that we take an active approach on keeping the servers a enjoyable place. If someone is kicked/banned without anything being said in the server then no-one is any the wiser.

I was banned from the EA site and BETA of BC2 for 3 days for not reading their ToC and posting a link to a disgusting site that sold hacks for $10 a month in the hope that they hadn't seen it and would combat it so am very careful about how I discuss this now :D

Just like antivirus and antispam systems, anti cheat stuff will always play catch up. The hackers look for holes or ways to do things, then the protection systems become aware and can start to block. Not having the in depth knowledge of how the systems work, I trust to the judgement of organisations like pbbans, and am grateful for their efforts to keep the games enjoyable.

PB and all the various streaming sites do a fantastic job.

You only had to play the Medal of Honor beta to find out what a game can and would be like without cheat protection - just painful for the little time the beta was open.
