Today marks 6 months of KillerCreation providing NTHW's dedicated server. It's been great.

We moved to KillerCreation with some trepidation and reluctance as our previous GPS had done everything we needed of them, but they weren't able to provide the EA/DICE gameservers. Our concerns were unfounded.

We rented an IntelCore2Duo Extreme fully managed server. Dedicated Boxes no doubt require individual setup and configuration but it was online in around 6 hours with our requested pair of BF:BC2 and trio of CoD4 servers. Very shortly after we had access to Teamspeak 3, webspace for fast map download redirections, and hosting for our clan's website. Impressively, a day later we had follow up email to check all was in order.

The dedi game server hasn't skipped a beat since. Our clan isn't a heavy user so perhaps we don't put it under a lot of strain. Even so it's always been available, unless the numpty server admin (yours truly), messes up a game config. As a managed server, with access to files restricted due to the EA/DICE rules, we can't change the installed games ourselves, but a quick email to KillerCreation support has seen them swiftly on the case. Indeed with the advent of MOH 2010, we rearranged our line up to take full advantage of the server's unused capacity and currently host 6 different game versions. Meanwhile game patches and updates have occured automatically behind the scenes whilst the admin emails of updates together with this active forum keep us well advised of new developments.

The only slight wobble has been with the webhosting, a service that KillerCreation don't promote, and which was provided to us very much on an "as is" basis. It does the job and has adequate bandwidth, but some functions are locked down very tightly, no doubt for security. That is understandable and has made this a very reliable package much more so than our previous host which was forever offline due to other hosting scripts overloading something. Indeed the single KC hard drive failure was impressively for a "free" service fixed in a day with no data loss.

With regard to the KillerCreation Game Control panel this does everything needed. We have access to every configuration file necessary easily allowing us to add functions like pbbans scanning. The ability to assign sub admins for individual game servers, even allowing them an abiltiy, if desired, to restart servers is great. It's slightly tedious to upload larger files, perhaps for custom maps and mods for CoD4 when you can't have access to ftp due to the EA/DICE restrictions of BF:BC2, but even so it's still very achievable through the game panel file editor functions. All in all it's been very well thought out.

When one dds in tools being developed by KillerCreation and Wolfy, like rweb, it's clear that KillerCreation are very able to go the extra mile in the name of service to their customers.

I'm very pleased to be renewing our dedicated server package for the next 6 months.

Yep cannout fault KC.
With regards to uploading maps, zip all the maps you want, upload the zip to your usermaps dir and extract via the control panel. Saved me many hours.

Thought I'd give this a bit of a bump with a good news update. Today the NTHW Medal of Honor (2010) server climbed into the top 25 world ranked servers on Gametracker. :D

Now that might not seem that impressive given that there are only around 800 MOH servers running. Equally though the few servers available indicates a game that is not that well played. Indeed our own clan only uses it once in a very blue moon. That the server has acquired a life of it's own and seems to be capable of self seeding and then sttracting players from around the world has to be testimony to the quality of the KillerCreation server hardware and more importantly the quality of their network connectivity. Indeed, of the top 25 servers 8 of them are KillerCreation hosted.

Thanks KC guys :)

Aggreed and grats on making the top25!
KC are without a doupt in a league of thier own when it comes to dedi's, thier network and and customer service.
We are coming up to our 2 year mark with them and have had only one major issue at the start due to a faulty nic card on the server (Sorted in under 12 hours!!!), everything else has been seemless. We have moved from server to server a few times as our community has grown and new games released and also cut back once too when we failed to keep MoH running and lost half our community to the dreaded World of Warcraft Addiction! But we have had full support from the guys here all the time with solutions to our problems found, good prices and Servers, Network Infrastructure and Network performance that as you said seems to keep servers self populatling as there is very little lag/latency and we have players on every day from West Coast USA, Canada and Parts of Asia and Southern Europe/Northern Africa who choose our popular CoD4 and Source servers over local ones as they get better connections, hit reg and less lag and they come back over and over again!!!
You just have to love this company, I dont think I will ever cease being a customer!
I also use the web service that is provided but comes unsupported by KC. Its ok but im not a fan of Plesk really as I find it a little restrictive but as you say its an un-supported service GIVEN to us for free as dedi customers so in that way its awsome. I just use mine for testing websites and running html/php admin tools from. Also even though it is officially NOT supported by KC and is just a little bonus to Dedi Customers I had a bit of help from Justin with the initial setup and intro to Plesk and he has sorted a few problems on it for me too, so you cant grumble at that!

Thanks from us too, to KC and Well done NTHW for the hard work as you have obviously built yourselvs a nice community (Which is becoming increasingly difficult to do with games the way they have been recently) over the last 6 months so good job!!!

It appears that our dedicated server's PSU lost its spark earlier today. :(

Someone must have taken a late lunch as they assessed the fault and then promptly relocated our server's hard disk moved into another box so we could be back up and running without loss of any of our configurations. :)

It took the slackers at KillerCreation about an hour to resolve this issue. :P Justin and his team really must try harder :D
