Big fan of online gaming for the last 5 years starting with battlefield 2142 then call of duty but now can't stop playing moh.
Ifound battlefield -bad company far to slow.
I am an old boy at 53 so have to compete with all you young guns , although saturday night with the really young uns is a pain if you whup them they all cry " cheat " and go to bed.
Quite interested in starting up a server but have'nt a clue where to start so any advice would be really helpfull.
Hope to see you all online [normally play in the mornings as i work nights ]

The real challenge is getting your server populated. You generally need a group of friends or clan to help you as scoring won't start until there are four players. You also need to find a setup that is popular with others. Some people prefer the teamdeathmatch modes, others want more objective based game types. Once your server becomes known it gets a bit easier as other players will list it in their favourites. My clan's server almost has a life of it's own these days.
In my opinion MOH has a lot to offer and is underated. As a result there are fewer servers than for many games which gives those with good servers a chance to stand out from the crowd. KillerCreation clearly provide a good basis for popularity judging by the number of servers they operate which are ranked highly on gametracker: http://www.gametrack.../search/moh/GB/

The cost depends on the number of slots and whether or not you want it debranded;

As said above, the real trick is getting the server populated. It's not as easy as you might think.

KillerCreation runs the server hardware, operating system and do all the tweaks and setups necessary to install the game files onto the server and that runs in their data centre space. You use the KillerCreation game panel which you access over the internet in your browser like Internet Explorer, to make the admin changes you wish, i.e the host name, rcon password, whether you want the game to be hardcore, softcore, the maps rotation etc. Most of this is a case of simply filling in a couple of pull down boxes, or making a quick edit to a short text file. If it all goes really wrong KillerCreation can usually assit during their support hours either by emailing them or you can even get hold of them on IRC.
Once your server is up and running rcon allows you control over how the server is being used by other players. You can send message commands that appear such as "server: have a nice day", you can kick players, and potentially even ban them. KilerCreation have develoiped an online broswer based tool rweb, which makes this very easy.

Bad COmpany is slow
Oh.. and welcome to the home of where our ^^ servers are hosted. If we (British Sergeants' Mess) could have babies, we would let Killercreation impregnate us every night

Standalone game server customers also have access to the game panel.
