Hi, was just about to order a Dell PowerEdge R200 Plus dedibox but stopped at the question of 32-bit or 64-bit Win2003 server.

Are there any benefits of going 64-bit or will it make no difference to games past, present, and future?

Hi,

For the R200 Plus, go with either Win 2003 64bit or 2008 R2 (recommended).

Are you planning on running ranked games?

Not ranked for the moment. Maybe BF3 at end of year, but this is really in readyness for homefront and Red Orchestra HoS.

With regard to Heroes of Stalingrad, I found this quote from the main man there which has got me a little worried over 64-bit:

Should I still be looking at 64-bit server?

64Bit OS's also support 32Bit code - so it's not a problem either way. The main reason to choose 64Bit is so that OS can address more than 4GB of memory.
