Hey. I am very interested in purchasing a dedicated server here but i was just wondering what would be the best package to run a Gmod 16 & 24 slot server on. I have a fairly low budget. Also im a bit confused about the gaming traffic only bandwidth option, does that allow me to upload addons etc to my gmod servers? Thanks for your help.

Hi,

A good starter dedi capable for handling that requirement would be the AMD X2 Pro or AMD X2 Extreme. You'd be able to run approx double you requirement with either of those two dedis, however; Gmod is a little open ended with its unlimited spawn potential which can consume an entire CPU.

With regards to the unlimited gaming, yes anything like that would be covered under this default package.

Ok, Do you have any idea when you will be getting the AMD x2 Pro in stock? Also just wondering if you offered a trial period like 7 days or something?

Thanks

Hi,

Given that we don't have the X2 Pro in stock at the mo, you would receive a free upgrade. If you'd like to take advantage of that, go with the X2 Pro order and then drop us a support ticket and we'll do that for you.

With regards to trial periods, I'm afraid not, no. It would prove too timely a service to offer with dedicated servers.

Ok, What would the upgrade be to and does that mean that i only have to pay for what the X2 Pro would cost a month?

The upgrade would most likely be to the X2 Extreme or the Core2duo Pro. And yes, it would remain at the same monthly price as the X2 Pro.

Wow, that sounds like a great deal. Just few more questions. ^^

1. How many gmod servers/slots could the Core2Duo Pro comfortably hold?

2. What would be the best OS for it?

Thanks

Hi,

1) The Core2duo Pro's can handle around 100 slots of Source at 66 tick. Maybe less with Gmod due to the spawns.

2) The best OS is subjective. We generally prefer Win 2003 32 Bit, though.

hmmm. Ok. Almost at the point of buying but just 2 more questions that i need to be answered :3

1) Does the fast map redirect service include things like materials, models etc or is it just for maps.

2) The 7,000gb limit on the any bandwidth option, is there a way of monitoring how much we've used? (im just scared of going over it D:)

Thanks for you help again.
