I've just been on our server for the last 90 minutes and in that time it's "crashed" four times and according to my clan mates this has been going on all weekend.

Are there any logs available which would show whether it was a genuine crash or someone messing about in Rcon?

These "crashes" just seem to have started since I gave out the Rcon password to a few members.

Server in question is the server in my sig.

Edit - If it helps it seems to crash when the map ends and the new map is loading.

Evening,

I don't think it's anything to do with your new admins. Since EA finished upgrading their Master Server hardware yesterday, crashing has become even more prevalent than it was before (which was pretty bad). During peak hours (6-9pm) and particularly on Sunday, it's even more noticeable.

The only thing we have noted to reduce crashes is turning PB off, which can be done in the ServerOptions.ini within our game panel.

Tomorrow, DICE should be releasing new info regarding the status of the back-end and server/client build updates. Hopefully this will all be fixed shortly.

Hi Justin,

Thanks for the reply.

Perhaps I should have mention that we also have a second server, provided by xxxx, which is running the same gametype but doesn't exhibit the same problems.

That server has been rock solid (touch wood) and hasn't gone down once in the last 72 hours (other than me restarting to sort out PBBans streaming).

Our problems just seem to affect our KC server.

I've spoken to a few fellow KC customers (a lot of us from Codleague.com get our servers from you) and they haven't noticed any real problems which all points to our particular server experiencing numerous crashes.

Hi,

Unfortunately that is down to blind luck. Take a look at the EA UK forums when you get a sec to understand the scale of the issues.

The provider you mentioned is on average experiencing 4 crashes per server per day (this is from internal RSP mailing list), which is more or less what we're seeing. Some servers are crashing once a day and others 6+ with identical setups.

You might well find tomorrow your server is crash-free and another customer who has had zero crashes today has 5 tomorrow. That is the randomness of how EA's back-end and server builds are at the moment. It's a time game waiting for DICE and EA to sort it out.

If you consider there is actually very little to cause crashes in the configs; PB is either on or off, hostname, banner, description and rcon password. It's fairly simplistic. We are also seeing quite a lot of sales emails along the lines of 'we a rent server from provider xxxx and it's constantly crashing but yours seem fine'. Again, all we can say to these people is thanks, but it's pure luck either way at the moment.

Thanks again for the reply Justin.

I didn't mean to suggest it was something to do with KC specifically and I apologise if it came across that way.

One reason I suspected our problems may have something to do with Rcon, or more specifically people messing with it, is the fact that I've not disclosed the rcon password to the xxxx server. That led me, rightly or wrongly, to suspect one or more or my clan members "fiddling" with our KC server/setup.

I'll monitor the situation tomorrow and report back.

It's fine, no worries. Maybe change your rcon password if you've not done so already :)

I thought I'd clear that up anyway in case other customers are reading.

The problem, apart from the back-end and client/server builds, is that DICE/EA has created a situation where fingers are also getting pointed at providers. The longer this goes on, the worse it'll get. It's just as frustrating for us (or any other provider) as it is for customers renting BC2 game servers.
