After weeks of planning, discussions and testing we have this week upgraded our dedicated server so that we can achieve the best possible experience on the Battlefield.
We only upgraded our box in June 2010 to a more than capable Quad core Xeon to cope with Bad Company 2 but the high demands on CPU power from Battlefield 3 testing made us look at our set up again. We consulted our excellent providers, Killer Creation and have been closely monitoring their BF3Beta test results for indicators. Killer Creation were able to provide beta servers for us to use during beta testing and it is their detailed results that helped us decide.
Another key factor that made our decision a whole lot easier was the kind donations we have received from our regulars. This coupled with the admin subscriptions meant we were in a very comfortable position to act in the communities best interests.
We believe that the best way to play Battlefield 2's sequel is via a 64 player server. Our Quad Core Xeon, although capable of delivering this, left us restricted in terms of having a set up that would provide as much variation as possible to satisfy the needs of the community. Our decision on how to actually set up our servers is still under review but if you have any thoughts or suggestions on how we can keep your community THE place to play let us know. We want to keep providing you with GG after GG right through DICE's latest, greatly anticipated title. We will still be supporting BC2 albeit greatly reduced and have in mind the addition of Valve's CS:GO, a future release.
So here is to another upgrade and a solid piece of hardware that will give our gaming regulars a totally lag free experience on the most top spec machine available to us. CHEERS!
Thank you Justin, the KC team and all of KC's customers. Without you all we wouldn't be here now.

Have you got a corprate sponsor or just really really well off and generous members???
We would love to get one of the new R210 II's but its out of our price range by a bit and also if we ran BF from an EA dedi we would have to move away from our IP (as its not in the EA ranked range) that we have had our popular CoD4 servers running on for over 2 years as well as not be able to run our ingame admin tool for CoD4. We were intending to run MW3 servers from our box but with the latest news there is just no point if they are unranked so that has blown that idea. We are at a bit of a loss really as we now have alot of space left but no servers we can put on it. We are also looking ahead to CS:GO as thats going to be huge.
Good luck with it, it looks like we are just going to be renting a single 64 slot to start with as we aggree 64 slots is the way to go without a doupt, thats what made BF2 & 2142 so great! Our server bill drops down a bit at the end of November when we finish paying off KC for upgrades we had fitted to boost our hosting capacity so we will prob add a second 64 or if not a 32 at least at that point once we free up some cash flow. Till then when we get bored on our own server and want to play a different game type we will come over and play on your servers.

I'm sure the R300 is capable dude. We upgraded due to the amount we wanted. All our admins are invited and are required to pay a yearly subscription. See our roster. http://www.britishse...id=56&Itemid=58
We have done extremely well with donations this year too, notably the Earl of Jersey, but any donation, big or small goes right into the pot for renewals.

With a strict Code of Conduct, high admin presence & solid love for BF3, BSM just hit #1 in the UK. We made it! Bullet Proof moustaches all round! Woohoo.. where is the Don Perignon? Thank you KillerCreation. You are the consistent #1 RSP. We love you! Thanks to all the regs who keep coming back for GG after GG and for sharing your server time and kind donations with us. To all the admins for being a solid piece of BSM for others who seek help and protection.
GREAT NEWS!! This calls for a celebration!
