New Dell Poweredge R300 Servers on the way
Dell has kindly offered us a great deal on 35 shiny new Poweredge R300 Servers. The servers are being delivered around the 22nd of May and we expect to have these installed for the end of the month. It will take approximately one week to create OS images which will include Win 2003, CentOS 5 and Ubuntu Server Edition, after that's complete, the servers will be racked up.
Spec as follows:
Quad Core Intel Xeon X3353/E5430, 4 x 2.66GHz, 12MB L2 Cache, 1333MHz FSB, 45nm technology (Harpertown Core).
4GB (2x2GB Dual Rank DIMMs) 667MHz
Sata2 160GB 16MB cache hard drive
We have also purchased a Dell PowerEdge 2950 III which will replace our current file server for use with fast map re-direction and customer ftp services.
